39th District Reps. Low and Eslick sponsor Snohomish High School student as House page

Snohomish High School student Skyler Sherard is serving as a page this week in the Washington State House of Representatives. Her legislative sponsors are 39th District Reps. Rep. Sam Low, R-Lake Stevens, and Carolyn Eslick, R-Sultan.

Skyler’s hobbies and interests include motocross and equestrian sports, as well as journalism and reading. This week at the Capitol, she has been assisting House members with various duties on the chamber floor, making deliveries throughout campus, and supporting member offices. Skyler has also been attending Page School every day to learn about the Legislature and lawmaking process, and will also be participating in a mock committee hearing in one of the same hearing rooms used by state lawmakers during session.

“We’ve loved having Skyler join us this week as part of our 39th District team here in the House,” said Low and Eslick in a joint statement. “It’s been great to get to know Skyler and witness her genuine enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve as a page. As she returns to Snohomish High School, we wish her the very best and encourage her to continue pursuing her passions with the same enthusiasm she has shown this week. Thank you, Skyler, for your hard work and positive attitude, and for being a great young leader. Our community is lucky to have you!”

To serve as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives, students must be at least 14 years of age and have not reached their 17th birthday. Pages work a 40-hour week, earn a stipend of $65 a day, and can earn up to 20 hours of community service.
